Hey Sutoscientists,

🧪 Welcome to the lab.

Each Sunday, I’ll be sending you a curated hit of what I’ve been reading, watching, and tinkering with — designed to feed your curiosity, not your algorithm.

Since this list is going to be a deep dive into culture, business, and tips for Creator CEOs, the full post is only available to paid subscribers.

❗️ As a heads up, the paid subscription cost is going to stay at $5/month until we reach 50 paid subscribers, then it will increase to $10/month.

  • 🛠️ AI tool I’m using: Gamma App. I make a lot of presentations for my ClassStack live classes over on ✍️ Make Writing Your Job, and it’s always taken ~ hours ~ to make them by hand (spoiler: I’m not a designer!). But the Gamma App is an AI powered presentation tool that blew me away. I used it in my class about how freelance writers can ace Discovery Calls to sell clients on their services, and instead of hours the presentation only took me 15 minutes to put together. If you make presentations or decks for anything, you should definitely check it out!

  • ⚙️ AI tool I’m going to try next: Bland AI. You may remember that in my ClassStack class about Discovery Calls I mentioned how important to give potential clients a call back within 60 seconds after them filling out your online interest form. Well, I’m about to attempt to automate this — and I’ll let you know how it goes! I’ve checked out a few AI call tools that get info and schedule calls with potential leads, but Bland AI sounds the most lifelike.

    • As a side note here, I recently called my dentist’s office, but the reception was busy. Instead of getting voicemail, an AI receptionist answered. At first I was annoyed, but then it asked me questions and summarized what I needed so that when the staff did call me back, they were merely confirming the scheduling change I had wanted to make. So as a customer, I ended up finding the AI receptionist more enjoyable than just hitting a voicemail box, and more efficient for getting things scheduled.

  • 📚 Business book rec: Alex Hormozi’s $100M Money Models. Alex Hormozi recently made $82 million in book sales in a single day for the launch of his new book, winning a Guinness World Record for most nonfiction books in a single day — and now only JK Rowling is ahead of him.

    • I use this case study in my new book Write for Money and Power (which was just announced this week — you can pre-order it here!) to explore how authors can use book launches to build influence. Book sales have been on the rise the past few years, so if you’ve been thinking about writing that book, now is the time! Reading is trendy again. 😎

  • 🎥 One of my favorite YouTubers is Hannah Alonzo, and I love her Influencer Insanity series where she breaks down Internet scandals from the lens of the business of influencing and content creation.

    • Her recent video on K-12 teachers becoming influencers is so fascinating, as it presents a dilemma: should there be rules against teachers filming their day-to-day as it brings up student privacy concerns? Or is removing their ability to earn extra income streams and document their life hurting a group of professionals who are already overworked and underpaid? Would love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments of this post.

  • 🍌 NanoBanana — an AI image editing tool some people are calling a “photoshop replacement” just launched. I’ve been using AI for more and more of my designs and branding elements (including the photo of this post!), and it’s getting better and better every day. This video breaks down how the tool works. I’m a bit partial to using ChatGPT instead, but NanoBanana has some good use cases, especially when it comes to image editing.

  • 🍿 My partner

    Kyle Cords
is the founder and visionary behind a new movie recommendation app OmList and got a nice write-up about the app in this blog written by developer Bruce Green. You can download the app here for iOS and Android — and there are some exciting new features soon.

🛍️ Inside My Shopping List

Things I’ve bought lately that have made my life better (including a few affiliate links* — thanks for supporting the publication!)

  • 🍳 High-end meal delivery. Confession time: I’ve stopped cooking and started ordering all of my meals from high-end meal prep/food delivery services. I use Methodology* for their awesome breakfasts, snacks, and apple cider vinegar shrubs which help to improve digestion and gut health when you drink them before meals. When I signed up to Methodology, they sent me a bunch of emails telling me that if I wanted to see results, I needed to follow their strict instructions: use a cast iron pan to reheat meals, go out to eat less, etc. Honestly, I love being bossed around by a company that knows what their members need, and it’s been very impressive so far.

    • I also order lunches and dinners from Locale*, a SF-based company and their vegetarian meals have also been great. Both companies deliver once a week, and all their meals come in glass (not plastic!) and you can customize your menu. It’s like having a private chef cook for you. Expensive, but so far very worth it if your schedule is crazy like mine and you want something cheaper and healthier than takeout if cooking has been tough to fit into life lately.

    • I also have tried Thistle before, which a bit of a lower-cost alternative I’ve used before during busy seasons of life.
