āļø Phase 1: The āLight Updateā
Back in May, I was on a plane to Copenhagen, excited about seeing the city and then attending a writing retreat in Tuscany soon after.
On the flight, I was re-reading my previous book Six-Figure Freelance Writer, red pen in hand. The plan? A simple glow-up.
The reality?
Two chapters in, I knew the āsmall additionsā would actually be huge new chapters and sections.
Even the chapter about how to grow on Substack wasnāt just a footnote ā it was a blueprint. Ghostwriting wasnāt just a niche ā it was the engine. The ideas I had were too big to retrofit.
So in June, I torched the so-called āsmall updatesā and started fresh. I wasnāt just revising a book ā I was showing writers how to find their jet fuel.
𧬠Phase 2: Assembling the Dream Team
Every mad scientist needs co-conspirators. Hereās who helped bring Write for Money & Power to life:

Meanwhile, behind the scenes:
I hired a web designer to build and design the landing page and got everything set up for the pre-order campaign.
I crafted two tiers of pre-order bonuses:

BTW ā want to understand the different types of readers in the book drafting process?
Alpha readers = Your writerās group. Early drafts. Chaos.
Beta readers = Bookās done but needs a tune-up.

š§Ŗ Phase 5: Final Tuning
The manuscriptās now in the hands of my sharpest editor ā my partner Kyle ā who is currently kicking the tires of every page (in the best way).
Once I work through his notes:
It goes to the proofreading stage.
Then, straight to ARC readers, journalists, and other members of the press ahead of the January 12th, 2026 release.
š§Ø Phase 6: The Big Reveal
Iād planned to announce the book the week before I actually did.
But, plot twist ā my bookās printing listings got delayed (hardcover is still lagging behind!), and my key retail links werenāt live when I initially wanted to announce.
So I held back until paperback and e-book copies were good to go. The second they were? We hit launch.
The post went live. The emails got sent. Then people showed up.
And thatās how we hit #1 in multiple categories on the Amazon bestseller charts before release.
