š” Creator News: The New Yorker is On Substack, Netflix Won the Streaming Wars, and My Favorite Bag of Coffee Beans
Gift ideas and links to make you more informed, smarter, and richer this December.
I took a few days off of publishing to celebrate a lovely life moment, but now Iām back to my desk and (almost) caught up on emails.
By the way, did you miss the Substack 101 class I just taught a few days ago? No worries ā you can catch the replay below:
š” Class: Substack 101 - How I Grew from $0-$100,000+ in ARR on Substack in 12 Months [Replay]
In this Substack 101 class, I break down what Iāve learned about adding over $100,000+ of value in 12 months on Substack:
Letās dive into the news for the day:
š¬ Links I Sent My FiancĆ©e
My fiancĆ©e (!!!) Kyle Cords is my co-founder which means DMing him links counts as productive work š
People are praising the Blueprint team and Bryan Johnson for their marketing emails. Iāll say this: no matter what your opinion is of Bryan Johnson and the anti-aging olympics heās putting on, his marketing is quite exceptional.
Consumerism is alive and well in the US despite people saying otherwise.
š Dispatches From the Bay
What to do and where to eat in San Francisco.
If you havenāt been to Super Duper Burger, Iāve been loving their veggie pattie + lettuce wrap instead of a bun + fried egg combo. The hummus sauce is next level and itās one of my favorite veggie burgers Iāve ever had.
āļø Content Trends
Trends in social media, content creation, and here on Substack.
- wrote this insane piece about the pending Netflix acquisition of Warner Brothers. It is the hottest of hot takes about the future of Hollywood, which makes sense considering Kyle worked in the machines that made the sausage, from both TV writers rooms to places like NBC Universal. In it, he shares his predictions about whatās coming next for entertainment.
The New Yorker is on Substack, and their comments section is ablaze with some opinionated folks. Media moving onto the platform is inevitable, so Iām curious to see what other media entities follow.
š° What to Watch & Read If You Want to Make Money Online
Resources to make you smarter and richer in the Creator Economy.
The freelance platform Contra came over to my house here in SF at the beginning of 2025 and the interview is (finally) out nearly a year later :) While some of the details of what Iām building are out of date (instead of updating my previous book Six-Figure Freelance Writer I ended up writing the soon-to-be-released new book Write for Money and Power, and I was just about to cross the coveted 7-figure mark right after the filming of this video), the freelancing takeaways and mindset shifts are still relevant:
I love this video from Vanessa Lau. It was published awhile ago, but I think her frank breakdown of what didnāt work for her when she built an $8M course empire is a great cautionary tale for those who are entering the online education space. Vanessa is a rare creator who gets really vulnerable with the details of her ups and downs in the creators space, which is why I love her insights.
The 6-week Substack Sprint workshop series Iām running starts this Tuesday at 6pm PT for Founding Members of Sutoscience. Hope to see you there!

Things that have made my life better or products I have my eye on.
Iām continuing to try and reduce my sugar intake, and after switching to black coffee in the mornings I recently ordered a bag of fresh coffee beans from Bird Rock Coffee for my French Press. They have a great coffee bean subscription that makes for a great gift for a coffee lover in your life.
Questions? Thoughts? Would love to hear what youāre thinking, reading, or making in the comments.
Happy creating,
-Amy
